Title
Reconveyance from Francis Butterfield of Luton,
yeoman (since deceased), to John Jefferson Kershaw of Luton, straw hat merchant, of:
(a) freehold messuage or tenement and shop with appurtenances fronting NE on to George Street in Luton, then late in the occupation of Josiah Wright and then of John Jefferson Kershaw and David Tearle; adjoining NW on premises then late in the occupation of William Bolton (deceased), which formed lot 1 at an auction held 19 Apr 1858 at which JJK's property - being mortgaged - formed lot 2.
X858/6 ctd. (b) a portion of a large warehouse, then lately held with the premises comprised in Lot 1, which also formed part of the messuage included in the premises comprised in Lot 2.
(c) small backyard adjoining (a) with the pump, tool house and water closet at the back.
(d) a brick built and slated factory with drying room together with a yard in the rear of (a); and also, a soft water tank in the factory with a pump to the same
(d) right of way and passage, three feet wide to use the entrance and passage leading from George Street on and over a portion of Lot 1.
...which said premises extend in depth from George Street to the length of 95 ft.; and were conveyed from Josiah Wright to JJK on the 18th July last.
Recites mortgage from JJK to FB (since deceased, father of the above reconveyor) of the above premises to secure £1000 with interest at £5% p.a. on 16th August 1859; /3-4 above; and receipt - original enclosed - dated 17 Aug 1868, from JJK to Francis Butterfield, son of Francis Butterfield
(deceased) recording payment of the sum of £1025 of which £1000 was the principal money and £25 the interest which was due.
