Thomas Palmer, gent; Francis Wells, draper; John Willows, fishmonger; William Pateman; butcher, all of Shefford, feoffees in Trust for the town lands of Shefford. 2. John Wells, Shefford, apothecary. Lease by l. to use of 2.: - cottage or tenement with apps. adj. the Chapel in Shefford known by the sign of the Ship and now occupied by 2. His assigns or undertenants together with all outhouses and apps. excepting all timber trees and other wood now standing or shall hereafter be upon or about sd. premises. Term from the lst day of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary last past for full 2l years. Rent _6 p.a. payable in two equal portions at the feast of St. Michael the Archangel and the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. And If rent shall fall behind or remain unpaid 40 days after sd. feast days lawful for l. to repossess their former estate and expel John Wells and undertenants from prems. And also 2. and assigns pay and discharge all manner of common and town taxes, rates levys, payments and parish duties whatsoever in respect of prems. l. to pay all extraordinary or parliamentary taxes. And also 2. maintain, repair and keep sd. cottage in good and sufficent tenantable repair and quietly leave prems. in good repair on expiraton of lease. And also leave upon sd. prems. all buildings and edifices whatsoever which shall be built thereupon. And lastly 2. to occupy prems. without hindrance or molestation according to the covenants.
