Reads - I have frequently had occasion to observe, that the view from a dining room, is of all apartments that which is of the least consequence; but as in this case the dining room will also be a breakfast parlour, and perhaps the general living room for the family, it will require more attention. At present, the park-pale meets the eye immediately at A in the map, and beyond it is the Beeston Leasow, as the ground in the park falls from the eye and that of the Leasow rises again, the latter will always be the most conspicuous. and if it should ever be in corn it will be very injurious to the scene; I hope therefore it will not be impossible to obtain that part of the Leasows immediately opposite, and that it may always be preserved in grass; then by putting a few yards of the pale in a sunk fence at A, the eye will not be confined in this direction. at B a plantation is very necessary, because the cornfields on the other side of the road are only concealed by a neighbours tall hedge, and we are therefore at his mercy to destroy all the park scenery in the view from the drawing room, as represented in the following sketch No.II. I have so frequently had occasion to explain the doctrine, of not permitting corn fields to appear in contact with park scenery, and it is so generally allowed as a principle, that I will not here repeat the reasoning by which it is established.
