- Admin/biog historyThe collection includes various branches of the family descended from Lt Col Robert Bourne Cowarne on one side and Richard Orlebar and Frederica St John Rouse Boughton on the other. The third daughter of Lt Col Robert Bourne Cowarne married the eldest son of Richard and Frederica in 1889. In 1922 Erica Beatrice Faith Orlebar married Joseph Bramwell Graham.
- This collection is made up of three deposits. Deposit one and two deposited by Mrs E.Graham, Elstow Lodge, later of Barton on 5 January 1973 (accession 3533) and 24 February 1984. The third was deposited by Mr Ian Graham Orlebar of Newton Abbot, Devon, on 17 March 1999. Ownership of X464/29-71 transferred to Bedfordshire Scouts July 1991.
- Scope and ContentThe contents concentrating on Scout groups at Hinwick and Wymington associated with Major General Sir Elliott Wood, and family correspondence with a small amount of legal and estate papers.
- Archival historyThe collection consists of various family papers relating to the Wood, Bourne, Orlebar and Graham families that appear to have descended through the family. Originally some papers relating to the military career of major General Sir Elliott Wood RE were deposited but these were later permanently withdrawn to the Royal Engineers archives. On the death of Erica Graham the collection descended to her son, Ian. Ian Henry Gaunt Graham-Orlebar was born on the 9 August 1926. He first trained and practised as a solicitor. In 1962 he retrained as a Church of England clergyman and after 8 years as a curate in Hemel Hempstead he was appointed rector of Barton-le-Clay and its associated parishes of Higham Gobion and Hexton. He retired to Devon in 1992 and died on the 18 July 2016. Rev Graham-Orlebar named his housekeeper as his sole beneficiary.
