Believed to be the Priory Chapel in St Paul's parish and also known as Christ's Church. In existence from c 1832 - c1845.
Scope and Content
The register gives the name of the child, the dates of the birth and baptism, the names of both parents, their abode and occupation.
The entries are signed by the Rev T R Matthews who describes himself, variously, as Bp P.E.C., E.C. Clerk, and Pastor of Christ's Church.
Some of the baptisms were by immersion including one in the sea at Brighton .
At the end of the book: Register of burials (1834-1845)The register gives the date of burial, the name and age of the person concerned and the parish in which the burial took place. The ceremony, in all cases being conducted by the Rev T R Matthews.
The volume also contains a collection of pressed leaves and flowers (mostly ferns and fuschias)
