    Restriction of Ribbon Development Special Committee This committee was set up in 1935 and served as pre-cursor of the later PLANNING COMMITTEE. Its functions at various dates, as given in the County Council Yearbooks are as below. It ceased in 1947 on creation of the Planning Committee 1936/7 To exercise and perform all the powers and duties of the Council under the restriction of Ribbon Development Act 1935 except the power of adopting standard widths as respects any road under Section 1 the power of applying Section 2 to any road not being a classified road on May 17th 1935 and the powers of acquiring land or easements under Sections 13 and 14 of the Act; the acts and proceedings of the Special Committee shall not be required to be submitted to the Council for their approval. 1939/40 additional power To exercise and perform the powers of the Council with respect to the future erection or establishment of petrol filling stations under the Bye laws made by the Council pursuant to Section 11 of the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1928. the acts and proceedings of the Special Committee shall not be required to be submitted to the Council for their approval. 1946/7 1. To exercise and perform all the powers and suties of the Council under the Restruction of Ribbon Development Acts 1935-1943 except (i) the power of adopting standard widths as respects any road under Section 1; (ii) the power of applying Section 2 to any road not being a classified road on May 17th 1935; (iii) the powers of acquiring land or easements under Sections 13 and 14 of the Act. 2. To exercise and perform the powers of the Council with respect to the future erection or establoishment of petrol filling stations under the Bye laws made by the Council pursuant to Section 11 of the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1926 3. To exercise and perform all the powers and duties of the Council under the Town Planning Act or any Act or Acts extending or amending the same, save so far as aby such powers and duties are exercisable by the Chiltern Hills Committee in connection with the preservation of the Chiltern Hills
