This committee was set up under the Blind Persons Act 1920 to exercise the powers and duties under that act, with the exception of:
(a) fixing the grants to be paid to the voluntary agencies for the welfare of the blind, and
(b) making or altering schemes under Section 2 of the Act
It later assumed the powers of the Council under Section 176(i) of the Public Health Act 1936 and also under the Blind Persons Act 1938
"Blind Persons Act Committee. Through this, County workshops for the blind have been erected and are maintained and the local societies for the blind are subsidised; its work dovetails with Public Health, Public Assistance and Education" - Fifty Years Work of the Beds CC 1938
After 1948 the powers were assumed by the new Welfare Committee [see WEL]
