Willoughby) view from Church Lane across High Street to Park Lane Sign for Elstow (see Z 49/332) Pages 24 & 26 John Bunyan climbing Hill of Difficulty Page 33 Site of Board probably Elstow Page 394 View of Entrance to the Green of plastered timber house Page 38 Another site of board c.1910-1914 N.B. John Willoughby was the proprietor of the Coffee Tavern at this period. The Coffee Tavern is not listed in the 1924 Commercial Directory. Simon Houfe, in his article in the Bedfordshire Magazine, dates the sketchbook to the period after 1922 when Ina and Inglis Sheldon-Williams moved to Flitwick, but Willoughby had ceased to run the Coffee Tavern at Sharnbrook by 1925 Commercial Directory, so it is probable that the Sharnbrook item is of an earlier date. More finished pencil sketches and pastel study have been deposited in the office with references Z49/332-333b. Z49/334-5 are photographs prepared before the sketches were deposited.
