    Conveyance (lease and release; 2 items) 1a Samuel Skevington, Turvey, yeoman 1b Ebenezer Malden, Bedford, baker Executors appointed by the will of Thomas Stewart, Bedford maltster, deceased (vendors' trustees) 2 Levi Stewart, Colmworth, labourer, only brother and heir of Lavender Stewart, late of Turvey, deceased, who was eldest brother and heir of Thomas Stewart, deceased (vendor) 3 Edward Odell, Cranfield, maltster (mortgagor) 4 George Coleman, Cranfield, grocer (purchaser) 5 Joseph Coleman, Cranfield, grocer (purchaser's trustee) Whereas by lease and release of 8/9 September 1815 between: i Eleanor Odell, Cranfield, widow ii Thomas Stewart, maltster Conveyance by i to ii in consideration of £700, of: - messuage or tenement, pightle of pasture and premises Subject to a proviso for the reconveyance of the property on payment by i or her heirs £700 and interest at 5% per year to ii by the following March And Whereas default was made in repayment whereby the interest of ii became absolute And Whereas Thomas Stewart made a will on 23 July 1818 bequeathing his estate to Samuel Skevington and Ebenezer Malden upon trust to sell And Whereas Thomas Stewart died without altering or revoking his will which was proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 23 July 1819 And Whereas Thomas Stewart died intestate as to the messuage, pightle of pasture, in use to him as aforesaid and without issue, leaving Lavender Stewart his eldest brother and heir, who is also since dead intestate, leaving Levi Stewart his only brother and heir the property. And Whereas Eleanor Odell by will of 2 August 1822 devised to her son Edward Odell her freehold and copyhold messuages and property at Cranfield And Whereas Eleanor Odell died soon after and her will was proved in the Archdeaconry Court of Bedford on 16 December 1804 [sic 1824] And Whereas the principal sum of £700 still remains due by the security of 8 and 9 September 1815, together with arrears of interest And Whereas Edward Odell has agreed to sell to George Coleman the property described for £330 And Whereas it is agreed by the parties that the purchase money of £330 shall be paid to Samuel Skevington and Ebenezer Malden in part discharge of the debt of £700 and interest And Whereas Levi Stewart as heir is required by Samuel Skevington, Ebenezer Malden and Edward Odell to release the estate to George Coleman And Whereas George Coleman desires that the messuage and property shall be limited and assured upon the lives and trusts with the power hereafter to prevent any wife of his being dowable Witnesseth Conveyance by Samuel Skevington and Ebenezer Malden to George Coleman in consideration of £330 on the direction of Edward Odell and 10s. paid by George Coleman to Levi Stewart and Edward Odell of: - messuage or tenement in Town End, Cranfield with appurtenances, occupied successively by Isaac Barratt, Richard Roe, Robert Simmons, Thomas Battison and now Thomas Battison and widow Ambridge - 1åa pightle of pasture adjoining - 1a arable land, formerly arable land and sward in the Lean Field, Cranfield, adjoining to the pightle East: land late Mr. Partridge West: land Mr. Falldoe both last described pieces of land occupied by Edward Odell Witnesseth the estate to go to the use of Joseph Coleman during the life of George Coleman Signed and sealed by the parties.
