  • Title
Letter from Kitty Crisp, 15, St John's Road, St Leonards on Sea, to F Bassett, Esq - 'Uncle Frank'. She hears from John that he wishes her case to be settled out of court. 'The reason I left my husband .... was.. because ... he threw a big table knife at me...'. He refused to let her have any dinner and told her to eat with the servants. She knows Mr and Mrs Atkinson will do all in their power to prevent the case going into court as it is a dreadful disgrace for them. She has to look after herself and child. Unless Arthur allows her £130 p.a., the entire custody of her child and his name being withdrawn from her marriage settlement, she will see what the Court will allow her. Before she left him he gave her a dreadful blow which left her with an abcess on her chest.
