    Lease and Release i) Richard Fewkes, Wellington, Lincs, farrier (brother of John Fewkes, late of Bedford, draper, deceased) and wife, Esther ii) Robert Palgrave,Bedford, druggist iii) Thomas Wakefield, Grantham, Lincs, innholder (trustee for ii) default has been made in the repayment of said £350 and £150 so that £500 is due and owing to William Coles. All interest has been paid John Fewkes died without making a will leaving his brother, Richard Fewkes, as heir at law, who is thereby entitled to fee simple of the premises By Articles of Agreement dated 5 May 1799, Richard Fewkes,in consideration of £600, agreed to convey the fee simple to iii) of - messuages, tenements, piece garden ground and premises as in above mortgages £500 of above shall be used to pay off debt due to William Coles Now in consideration of £100 paid to Richard Fewkes by ii) i) release to ii) and iii) - messuage in High Street, Bedford, now in occupation of Edward Turner Palmer E High Street S messuages now in occupations of John Mawby and Robert Clement N hereinafter mentioned messuages - piece garden ground adjoining - other messuage, now divided into 3, formerly in occupation of Mrs Frances Hurst and now of -, E High Street S above mentioned messuage N messuage formerly in occupation of Mrs Elizabeth Bithrey and now of - to be held by ii) and iii) (in trust for ii)) to hold freely except for mortgages of 6 August 1785 and 10 January 1786 relating to the £500 and interest agreed to be paid to William Coles. remainder of said terms of 100 years and 1000 years are to be assigned to Joseph Margetts Pinson [sic] signatures of i) and iii) endorsed receipt witnesses John Palgrave; Wm Whitworth; Mary Rossington (mark).
