    reciting that in 1844 the Marquis of Bute agreed to sell to ii) certain lands in Bedfordshire The said Marquis of Bute made his will dated 22 July 1847 by which he devised all his Manors etc in Bedfordshire, Herts,and Durham, to Lord James Stuart Onesiphorous Tyndall Bruce and James Munro Macnabb in trust to convey them to those who might have contracted for their sale Said Marquis died on 19 March 1848 Previously to November 1846 John Williams of Luton occupied the below mentioned lands as tenant to ii). Said lands were put up for sale by Messrs Hoggart and Norton at Auction Mart in City of London on 3 November 1846 in several lots. Below mentioned lands were lot 16 but were not disposed of at the sale. On 21 November 1846 said John Williams agreed with ii) for the purchase of the lands for £2000 with timber at valuation and an agreement on back of printed Sale particulars was signed by ii) and John Williams. John Williams made his will on 9 March 1847 by which he devised all his real estate to wife Caroline Williams and eldest son Evan Owen Williams in trust for sale. Money arising should be regarded as part of his personal estate and be divided among his children, Evan Owen Williams,Caroline Williams,John Williams, Daniels Williams, Cecilia Williams, Alfred Williams, Mary Williams, Emma Williams and David Lewis Williams equally. Said son, E O Williams, and wife Caroline Williams appointed executors. He died in February 1850. Will proved (PCC) on 11 April 1850. By deed of even date but executed before this, between a) The Hon. Patrick James Herbert Crichton Stuart (commonly called Lord James Stuart), John Boyle (the present trustees of the will of the late Marquis of Bute) b) Charles Thomas Warde Evan Owen Williams, Luton, Esq. c) Caroline Williams, Luton, widow d) John Shaw Leigh reciting that in 1851 c) agreed with d) to sell him the benefit of said Contract, and with b) to convey to him all their interest and estate in said lands and in buildings recently erected thereon for £2600. Out of this sum it was agreed that d) should cont retain £360, being amount of interest on said purchase money of £2000 due to b) up to 29 September 1851. Accordingly £240 residue was paid by d) to c). Also b) or d) at request of b), paid to the Marquis of Bute in his lifetime the full purchase money of the property to be sold to b)(including below mentioned land). Agreement still remainded to be performed but said sum of £360 and other outstanding interest had been paid to b) So in consideration of £240 (part of said £2600) paid to c) by d) and £360 paid to b) by d) on behalf of d) and £2000 paid to b) by d) a) at request of b) and c) release to d)- pieces of land in Luton and buildings on them as in Schedule also d) agreed to indemnify b) as follows Now i) agrees with ii) that he will keep ii) indemnified against all manner of actions which may arise for reasons of ii) having joined in conveying the premises to i) or from any demand of anyone claiming an interest in the premises under John Williams, deceased, or monies arising Schedule: - Tithe apportionment no 1917 Brickfield (8a 1r 12p) - Tithe apportionment no 1918a Part of Great Hill (16a 1r 30p) - Tithe apportionment no 1923 Part of Long Field (14a 3r 14p) Total - 39a 2r 16p signature of i) endorsed witness Rt Manley Lowe, Inner Temple, London.
