Letter from Tavistock to Higgins.
It has been the rule to hunt the "old Oakley country" three times a week, and this is what he intends, but there must be exceptions in special cases. "In the case in question, 1 should have preferred hunting a 4th day, but the weak state of the pack rendered that difficult,...and their going to Chicksands & Wrest had become very desirable in order to satisfy the fox preservers in that district." He is sorry this meant leaving his brother sportsmen in the north with only two days, especially after a long frost, but reminds that he gave them an extra day before Christmas.
