In 1853 he purchased the Milton Ernest estate; part of this was a meadow of 2½ a. adj. the kennels of the Oakley Hunt, & now occ. R.W. Arkwright, & a barn. These he has now contracted to sell to W.B. Higgins of Picts Hill, Turvey, for £325. He has been in undisturbed possession; & in 1858 he built the present mansion on the estate, & lived there till Dec 1872
