    to nephew John son of late brother John £200 in deposit receipt with the Commercial Bank, Colinsburgh to be spent on his training and education with a view to fitting him for his future station in life under the direction of John Flockhart Esq of Colinsburgh, William Morgan Esq, Elie and the Reverend P H Hunter of Elie (Trustees) (part of testator's savings) 14 July 1885 2nd Will of above appoints Trustees brother Thomas Russell of Haremere, Etchingham, Sussex, William Morgan of Elie, and David Cook, Solicitor of Anstruther, Fifeshire (also Executors) all real and personal estate (1)pay debts (2)pay legacies:- (a)Widow of deceased brother John all furniture purchased by or belonging to the testator in house at Elie occupied by testator.(to be divided between her two children on her death) (b)to Elizabeth Russell, daughter of George Russell, best china tea set and £300. (c)to Marion Mackie Russell, niece also daughter of George. Silver tea set which belonged to late brother James. (d)Elizabeth Maria Russell, niece daughter of Thomas Russell jewel box (given as present by her) and £600. (e)to each of nieces Edith, Louisa and Gladys Russell (daughters of Thomas Russell £250) to Elizabeth and other 3 daughters all sewed work, cushions and rugs belonging to her at her death. (f)to Louisa all brooches and rings (g)to Edith her grandmother's silver tea pot and marble statuette in Drawing Room. (h)to those who received fish and desert knives from brother James Russell remainder (i)to Gladys gold watch and seals which belonged to her aunt Mary (j)to brother Thomas Russell bibles and books and pictures (except portrait below) (k)to nephew James Russell, son of George Russell portrait of deceased brother James (l)to nephew James Russell at Elie silver jug (m)to nephew James Russell, son of Thomas silver basket (n)to nephew Andrew Russell, son of George Russell dinner service (o)nephews James Russell son of George Russell, George Russell son of Philip Russell (testator's brother) William Russell, son of Thomas Russell remainder of silver plate (p)Euphemia Lewis, daughter of William Lewis Esq, Stoneleigh Beaufort, Victoria legacy of £200. Agnes Pearson, domestic servant if still in employ at time of testator's death, legacy of £200, but if left employ £50 only. Residue to be divided between following nephews and nieces (a)Children of Philip Russell:- George, James and Philip (b)children of Euphemia Hipwell (sister) - Annie, Virtue, Elizabeth and Euphemia Hipwell (c)children of Thomas Russell Edith, Louisa, Gladys, William and James Russell, five of children of Thomas Russell (8) James, Marion Mackie and Andrew Russell, three of the children of George Russell John and Marion Russell, children of John Russell survivors and also issue of any may take parent's share. not assignable by them or subject to their debts etc.... or for the acts, deeds, engagements of husbands. Trustees not to be liable personally only to behave honourably Trustees to be tutors and curators for such beneficiaries as may be minors or pupils and who have no other legal guardian pay money to legal guardians otherwise revokes all other wills etc except letter of direction of 14 July 1885 by which she appointed £200 in Deposit receipt in her name in the Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited, Colinsburgh to be spent by the Trustees for the benefit of John Russell, son of late brother John Russell (interest to be paid with principal) Original will had been written by Thomas Sime, apprentice to David Cook at Elie witnesses Thomas Sime, Peter Walker Berwick (also apprentice to David Cook) 15 July 1891 lst Codicil best table napery, silver cruet stand and dozen of best tea spoons shall be given to Elizabeth Marion Russell. furniture to be given to Mrs John Russell and her children "shall comprehend Household plenishing generally" esp carpets and curtains, portrait of testator and such of napery not before bequeathed. to daughters of Thomas Russell velvet dress and handsome shawls, which she received from him residue of wearing apparel and down bed to the children of sister Euphemia Hipwell bequest of pictures to brother Thomas shall include portrait of late brother William Legacies to specific persons shall revert to their issue if they predecease testator witnesses as before 15 July 1891 Codicil to Elizabeth Russell, Haremere handsome box and sewed work she sent testator to Edith sewed chair and small ottoman sewed by their Aunt Mary to Louisa sewed cushions to Gladys diamond brooch got from Uncle William to Andrew Russell marble statuette to Agnes Pearson, servant who has been with testator for some years, £200 if she is still with testator at testator's death, if not E150 and then £50 to servant who is with her.
