The accident occurred on 10 Oct 1871 and this address is being written 2½ yrs later. Malden is described as 'pig headed'. He had trouble with his doctors - one of them called Stevens is a 'bitter, revengeful man with no common sense' who had been in considerable pecuniary difficulties (which are described in great detail).
