  • Title
    Bound volume with "sketchbook" tooled on the spine and early C19th containing a series of ink and ink wash drawings executed in a naive style typical of the early 19th century English School. Most of the pictures have a flat, two dimensional feel and have been drawn with limited reference to perspective and scale, for example, towers and usually shown much shorter than in reality. Most of the pages are watermarked with a date of 1807, though a detached sheet is watermarked with a date of 1822 The volume is annotated in pencil on the flyleaf with: "OXLEY"; "1822" and "2/-/1411"[?], the significance of these annotations being unknown Some pages, not relating to Bedfordshire items were removed by the seller. The pages are 6 x 10 inches in size.
