Produce sold includes named varieties of potatoes, peas, radishes,
beans, strawberries, carrots and mangold seed. Other sales, often including both seeds and fully grown plants, are turnips, parsley, kale, celery, sprouts, beetroot, apples, parsnips, broad beans, onions, broccoli, lettuce, cabbages, raspberries, blackcurrants, greengages, cauliflower, snipe and walnuts.
A wide variety of greengrocers, fruiterers and wholesalers are mentioned, located in East Bedfs, Herts and London.
Occasional work includes carting, working with tar machine on Old North Road for Beds County Council in 1911 (p.364), and cutting corn and oats.
