The survivor might appoint another trustee not above the rank of Esquire. - authoristaion by trustees to William Norton to alienate as he wished - 30 Apr 1583 - Marriage Settlement (covenant to suffer recovery) of 1 May 1583; Edward Wyngate and Thomas Norton to suffer recovery by permission of William Norton and in consideration of jointure for William Norton's wife Dionise the following property to be held to use of William and Dionise in tail male, remainder to use of Daniel Norton and Thomas Norton in tail, in turn, remainder to right heirs of William Norton (a) property of William Norton mentioned in will of Richard Norton, called Clarkes in Sharpenhoe; (b) close of pasture of 10 acres in Sampsill, Westoning Statute Staple of 1,000 marks - 20 Jun 1583 - William Norton to Edward Wyngate and Thomas Norton Edward Wyngate now declared that the Statute Staple would be void if William Norton kept to the conditions of the 1583 marriage settlement Endorsed: "My uncle Wyndat's defesants to me"
