Notes and correspondence gathered by Miss Bell for a biographical sketch of Dr G H Fowler. Includes booklets, "G.Herbert Fowler - The Forgotten Oceanographer" (pub. 1984) and "British Oceanographers and the Challenger Society 1903-1922", both by Margaret Deacon; "Gudbrandur Vigfusson", a biographical sketch by B.S.Benedikz (Dr Fowler left a large endowment for the study of Ancient Icelandic Literature and Antiquities at Oxford University, now called "The Vigfusson Rausing Reader"); "The Care of County Muniments" by H G Fowler (1923); and an article by Michael Hall in Country Life magazine about Marlborough College Chapel and its designer, the architect G.F.Bodley, who was Fowler's uncle. Also copies of wills of Dr Fowler and his estranged wife Dr Ursula Mary Dewes Fowler; and a copy of Miss Bell's finished article.
