    'The Romans in England once bore away, And then the Saxons led the way They tugged with the Danes for an overthrow, But they all were beat by the Norman bow, But barring all pother, The one and the other Were all of them kings in their turn. First Billy the Conqueror long did reign And Billy his son by an arrow was slain And Harry the 1st was a scholar bright But Stephen was forced for his crown to fight Yet barring etc. Second Henry Plantagenet's name did bear, And Couer de Lion was his sin and heir And magna Carta was signed by John Which Henry the Third set his seal upon Yet barring etc There was Teddy the 1st was a tryer bold, But the 2nd by rebels was bought and sold And Teddy the 3rd was his subjects' pride Tho' his grandson Dicky was popped aside Yet barring etc Henry the 4th was a warlike knight, And Harry the 5th like a cock would fight And Harry the 6th like a chick did pout When Teddy his cousin had kicked him out Yet barring etc. Poor Teddy the 5th was killed in bed By butchering Dick who was knocked on the head And Harry the 7th in fame grew big And Harry the 8th was as fat as a pig Yet barring etc With Teddy the 6th we had tranquil days But Polly made Faggot and fire to blaze, And good Queen Bess was a glorious dame, And Bonnie King Jamie from Scotland came Yet barring etc Charley the 1st was a Martyr made And Charley his son was a comical blade But Jemmy to Protestants being contrary Was forced to surrender to William and Mary Yet barring etc Queen Anne was Victorious by land and by sea And Georgy the 1st did in glory sway And as Georgy the 2nd has long time been dead Long live the George we have in his stead Yet barring etc. '
