Gertrude Strange to Edward H Strange 16 June 1849 Kennington 6th mo 16th 1849 My very dearest Papa I should like to see thee very much. Dear Frank was afraid of falling off his donkey. Ted had a chair and Frank & I had each a side saddle. Willy came home safe and glad on 6th day. We enjoy blowing soap bubbles. When are we coming home? Ted wants to give Dory & Baby 21 kisses. Ted and I rode to Aunt Arch's in a goat chaise and Cousin L walked. I remain thy very affectionate Daughter Gertrude Strange. Gertrude wishes me to write what remains on her slate uncopied because she was too tired to say more - it is that "Teddy took hold of the reins" (of the goat chaise) "and whipped the Goat"- She also desires I will add that she wished to have sent her dear love to thee and Sam & Teddy's too - and "love to Eliza Yeates"- L.H.
