    To Mrs Strange 28 Aug 1837 Minutes of a meeting At a meeting held in the Girls Sunday School room, on Monday August 28th 1837 at which were present - Mrs. Whitehurst, Miss Morris, Mrs.John Morris, Miss M.Morris, Mrs Strange, Mrs McLauchlan, Miss Hager, Mr. Whitehurst, & Mr. Powell. It was agreed to establish a smocking school for girls of six years old and upwards, to meet twice a week, Mondays & Saturdays. The school to commence at two o'clock and close at five."- Mrs {Pacer} to be appointed mistress of the school at I.C. few weeks. The school to be under the entire management of a committee of Ladies. Girls to be admitted into the School by the recommendation of some member of the committee, subject to the approval of the rest at their general meetings, which are appointed to be held on the first Monday in every month, three Ladies being present will form a committee. No charge to be made for admission. Each girl to subscribe a penny weekly which will be returned at the end of the year in clothing. The names of the children to be enrolled in a book, together with their ages, and the date of their admission. The names to be called once before school begins, also before they are dismissed, and the regularity of their attendance and weekly payments marked.
