Priscilla May to Ann May 2 Feb 1834 Frenchay 2nd Mo 2nd 34 My dear Mother Thy welcome letter received yesterday was very relieving as I hope the amendment in the dear invalids was permanent - it confirmed me in the my previous determination of leaving Frenchay on fourth day next as after receiving such an account as the one on third day I could not feel at all easy away from home - Emily will remain as it would not be at all safe for her to go and Aunt T. evidently expects her to - we shall find it rather hard to part as E. & I have been together for six months Aunt T. readily gives me up though she said she was very sorry for the occasion - My present intention is to go to London on fourth day & unless I have a letter from thee there to the contrary to proceed by coach on fifth - I should think Ward had better be told of it at Ampthill.- The monthly budget was received last evening - I had a very agreeable & rather long letter from Jane & a short hasty one from Caroline good accounts of all - Aunt H. & Louisa wrote to Emily who must not go for a month - their servants are both going to leave - Maria has behaved so ungratefully that it is only right to send her off. Aunt Arch mentioned Uncle Samuel being come up to town about the disagreeable lawsuit between him & Jack Curtis. Elizabeth Fox & daughters are come - Marianna still about & quite well, takes a walk every day - the rest are all well. We spent fifth day at Joel Lean's & lodged that night there. Aunt desires her dear love to you & wishes me to say how sorry she was to hear of Father's & Nancy's illness & thinks my services must be wanted or she would wish me to lengthen my stay - I intend writing to Francis to ask him to meet me at the coach - Farewell, my dear mother till fifth day when I hope to have the felicity of seeing you all, & the dear invalids better - with dear love in which Emily unites I remain Thy truly affectionate Priscilla Samuel May Postmarks : E No 30 [Seal : P.M] Ampthill BRISTOL Ann May Bedfordshire 3 FE 3 2FE1834 1834 Py POST
