Helen Curtis to Priscilla May 15 Dec 1830 Frenchay Dec. 15th 1830 My dear Priscilla I received from Henry a few days ago, we were much concerned to find you had left London on account of your dear Mother's illness & from not having heard any thing since we had hoped it was nothing very serious but at Cirencester quarterly meeting (where my Aunt has just returned from) she was sorry to hear from one of the Lucas's a very unfavourable account of my Aunt May which appears to be a more recent one than my Cousin Henry's, as my Aunt & all of us are very desirous of hearing further particulars, I thought my dear Priscilla or any one more at liberty would write a few lines upon the receipt of this letter & we quite hope the account will be a favourable one - We are expecting Frederick tomorrow tho it is a little uncertain as we suppose he is coming from Liverpool to Bristol in a steam Packet, he wrote from Liverpool last Sunday informing them of their having had rather a rough & tedious passage but had landed safe. Henry spent a week here a short time ago which was very pleasant, Francis is much better & is going to London tomorrow where he intends staying a week & we expect Henry to return with him, so that they may have the pleasure of being all five together, which will be truly gratifying to all parties. I wrote a long letter to you by Henry, but as I am not at all aware what became of it, I shall conclude you received it & not trouble you with a long one now - I have received very good accounts of my Sister Caroline & the baby, my sister Maria is with them still & intends staying 'till after Christmas,- Last Week I spent a day with Anna Lury very pleasantly I do not know whether you are acquainted she was a schoolfellow of mine at Shaftesbury she has two fine sons. Rachel Coe has been coming to live with Rachel Hoare for a long time but she seems unwilling to leave her Sister who she is staying with - My Aunt with my Cousins & myself write in dear love to Aunt & Uncle yourself & all the family, & expecting an early & favourable reply believe me my dear Priscilla - your ever Affectionate cousin Helen Curtis - I could not help opening my letter to give you the delightful news of Frederick's safe arrival at Frenchay, he came by the Mail instead of a Steam Packet. The general opinion is that he is nearly twice the size than when he went & looking remarkably & generally improved - this is all I can tell you as he is just come & my letter must be sent tomorrow morning Alfred particularly desires his love to you all he is well & in good spirits.
