Scope and Content
Dear Coz
It is with infinite satisfaction, that after having so many times wished thy album many miles on the other side of the Atlantic, I can return it to thee finished, & without the loss of a single leaf. I beg though that thou wilt not attribute these very unkind wishes to any unwillingness to oblige my coz -; far from it, nothing would at any time afford me more pleasure; but my practise in album drawing is so very little, & there is always such an inexplicable something connected with the very idea of it, that I am almost afraid to make one stroke follow another - so that whatever defects may be discovered must be ascribed to an involuntary tremor of the hand -
Trusting that thy kindness will take the will for the deed I remain with all due submission thy ever affectionate coz. -
