Dear Sister
I was not aware that thou wast going away from school so soon.
The boys have been skating and sliding several times but I had not a pair of skates, so I was contented with sliding but we do not expect to have any more this winter. We now begin to take walks.
It was monthly meeting day last 4th day at Maidstone and a few of the boys went and those who stayed at home had a half holy day.
The boys are now beginning to do up their gardens and it now came to my turn to have one.
I suppose they have got into the shop at home.
I am now reading in Cornelius Nepos in Latin; but in Ciphering I am now working in Promiscuous Exercises in rules. I have been through before.
There have been but four new boys this half year. Our Christmas holy days ended last 2nd day 3 weeks. I went to R Marshes in the holy days with George Beck and J.Foster.
Please to give my dear love to Francis & Jane the first opportunity;
I remain, Thy affectionate Brother,	Samuel May
