Ann May to Priscilla May late Oct 1825 [1st day evening] My dearest P. It is within a few minutes of reading time 1st day evening & to-morrow Charles drives me to M.M. at Baldock yet as H. will probably treat himself tomorrow evening with a peep at his sisters I prefer sending my love to thee in black & white, also to tell thee, I have slept in my new chamber ten nights & find it very comfortable with keeping a fire in it, I came here feeling the effect of a few cold days just before, but am favoured to be pretty well again, & last 6th day went with thy F. to the Bible Meeting at Bedford, dined at E.Dumelow's with an interesting party among the rest a Moravian Missionary & his wife from the Cape of Good Hope but I must confine myself to home concerns. Our new servant Elizabeth Willshire from Westmill bids fair to suit us also another new face looks very promising Robert Giles who came yesterday. Thomasin has taken possession of thy comfortable looking chamber until thou comes to claim it when it looks pleasant to me to have thee for so near a neighbour Lewis sleeps in the crib by us you can only come up by the back staircase through the shop so thou may'st comfort thyself with being better accommodated. As Charles intends going to town from Baldock hope he will make thee a call, when thou mayst hear what a state of forwardness our things are in. Though the stock-taking is not completed thy F. already feels it relieving to have such a competent partner. Arthur Fry comes next 3rd day & probably W.Holmes will be given up in a few weeks so the changes are beginning in earnest. My love to S.Corder could she oblige the Bennells with a Prospectus by Charles? We had a pleasant latter from dear Samuel a few days since. In haste believe me ever - Thy truly affectionate Mother.
