Eliza Beck to Priscilla May 21 June 1825 Wratten Cottage 6/21/25 My dear Priscilla As Jeffrey Lucas is going to Ampthill the day after tomorrow I could not comfortably let him go without writing thee a few lines to assure thee that thou art not forgotten by me. I must confess I was disappointed at not receiving a similar token from thee but I will forgive thee as perhaps thou may'st have been unavoidably prevented from fulfilling thy promise of writing by the first opportunity, We reach'd home last 7th day week accompanied with by Sarah Thomas who is now spending a few days with us. I need hardly tell thee the delight I felt at finding myself once more at home and in the bosom of those who make home delightful thou well knows how anxious how an I was to break the bands that divided me from it. Oh! sweet home! true indeed is the poet when he says Forlorn is the heart that not centres in thee A few days ago I heard from dear E Greenwood she was quite well. Mother wish'd me to give her dear love to thee and she should be very glad to see thee here after the monthly Meeting if thou could'st return with her and if thou would'st not mind sleeping in our little room with me. I hope thou can'st conveniently join in with this proposal if thee can'st my whole heart says "yea and amen" to it for I long to see thee here to stay some little time as never having had that pleasure. I hear by Jeffrey you are all in the muddles at present I think you must indeed long to be out of them again. I do not much think I shall be at the M M. but should be obliged to thee to write me an answer to the above question by post if no opportunity offers of sending it before 2nd day. Our little brother George is now with us it is very pleasant to have him home again though it be but for a short time. but fare thee well for the tonight I must now adjourn to "blanket bay" ( as our dear Edward calls it) 4th day morning. Again my dear girl I take my pen to add a little to this sad scrawl which I fear thou wilt find a difficulty in understanding. I suppose thou hast heard of the arrival of William Foster in England. how very delightful it must be to his wife to have him with her again it is hardly possible to conceive the pleasure it must be to her them both to find themselves again united. My dear Priscilla it is washing day and I am busy so hoping I shall soon see thee here I remain Thy truly affectionate Eliza D.[Debby Beck] unites with me in love to thee and thy mother Priscilla May Favrd by J Lucas Ampthill
