My very dear Parents
I received Mothers very kind letter, last week, which was very acceptable, I am much obliged to her for it.
I am very well, and my eyes have been very nearly so for a few days, when they were bad I, did nothing but bathe them; when they were improving I knit a little. Mother said that she thought when my eyes were bad it was the time I took to trim my garden up, but it was so very cold that I might not go out, but still I could think of you and home. Governess employed a gardener to trim our gardens! and now we are busy sowing our seeds. The mustard & cress we have set in scrolls and in our names, as there are several joining with me in a garden.
In the Arithmetic I am learning Fractions. Governess has given me a new ciphering, book I am setting down in Reduction: and I am learning to draw Counties in my copybook. You must not expect to see a great deal when I return home.
I suppose you know that our Vacation is very near, it only wants nine weeks. We are all very busy getting our books and other things ready.
I am so glad cousin Lucy Beck has a little Baby and I think Lucy Ann is a very pretty name; please give my dear love to John & Lucy Beck.
I was sorry to hear that Mercy Wheeler is so ill. I think that Deborah must be very sorry. Please give my dear love to all my dear Brothers and all enquiring friends, and accept a large share yourselves
From your affectionate Daughter Priscilla May
