"A touz ycieux qui cestes lettres verront ou oirront Edmond de Mortoyn seynour de Merstone Will[iem] Marchal persone de la eglise de Merston saluz. Sachez nous avoir fete et ord[one] Geoffrey de Stodham notre attorne et a syn pleyn pourver done de vendre boys hayes fey[ldes] pastures en notre manoir de Stodham que nous auons de la feofment Williem de Leycestre eyant ferme et stabile ceo que il firra en notre nom en le dyt office En tesmoynance de quele chose [ceo lettre] patente auons plaunte notre Seale Don a Merston le seconde iour de may lan de regne [de roy E]dward tierce apres la conqueste trentyme tierce"
To all those who shall see or hear these letters Edmond de Mortoyn and William Marchal parson of the church of Merstone greeting Know that we have made and ordained Geoffrey de Stodham our attorney and given to his full power to sell woods closes fields pastures in our manor of Stodham which we have of the feoffment of William de Leycestr' holding firm and stable whoat he shall do in our name in the said office In testimony whereof we have place our seal to this letter patent Given at Marston the second day of May in 33rd year of the reign of Edward the Third after the Conquest.
