Title
Draft agreement at a Vestry Meeting at the Bell Public House for the management of the parish kiln.
(i) the parish of Marston Moretaine
(ii) Wm. Franklin
1. Wm. Franklin is to purchase materials and erect a mill and sheds. (In pencil: "in doing which he will prefer having the assistance of a competent company of the following parishioners" - names not inserted).
2. Wm. Franklin will superintend preparing the clay, making and burning all bricks, tiles and other articles, and will control the workmen whether parish men or others.
3. Wm. Franklin will make all payments for straw, coals, sand, government duty, and extra labour; the parish advancing 200 to be drawn upon by consulting a Committee which the parishioners may think proper to appoint.
4. Wm. Franklin will take the stock of bricks on hand at the fixed price, and leave goods to the same on his leaving the concern. His remuneration will be 7% on sales, but only 5% for stock left unsold at Lady Day 1831.
5. He will find a horse to work the mill at a rate to be arranged.
