    Adey & White Limited This St.Albans [Hertfordshire] company was begun by Stephen Adey and Samuel Monckton White when they bought Thomas Kinder's brewery in Chequer Street in 1868 [see WB/AW4/1/VP/1]. The company bought the Parsons Brewery [see WB/Parsons] in St.Peter's Street, St.Albans in 1885 and continued to use both breweries. Harold Adey, son of Stephen ran the company from 1899, buying the only other St.Albans brewery, T.W.Kent & Son in 1918. Adey & White became a limited company in 1921 and was taken over by J.W.Green Limited [see WB/Green] in May 1936, together with their 56 public houses. The St.Albans brewery was closed in July 1936.
