Brothers Walter and Harry Peacock set up the business of W & H Peacock, c.1902. Walter had worked for Stafford, Rogers & Merry before going off to the Boer war with Compton's Light Horse. In the late 1960s or early 1970s the company merged and became W & H Peacock Western & Co. Later in the 1970s the name was reduced to Peacock. In 1988 the company became Wilson Peacock and then in about 2003-2004 the auctioneer side of the business was bought out by management and became W & H Peacock while the estate agent side of the business remained as Wilson Peacock.
