    Letter (copy) from Humph. Brandreth to ? on the drainage of Houghton Regis. The pond or moat he is filling up on the Green is his own property, and is stagnant and noxious. If his correspondent's tenant has used it to water his cattle it was a neighbourly act, not a right. The matter of the general drainage was gone into because 4 or 5 years ago of a severe outbreak of typhus in the village, due, it was thought, to the drainage, A parish meeting agreed to fill up certain ponds or pools of stagnant water in different parts of the village and to construct new drainage course.
