[p. 8 missing, and catalogue entry made up from B395 below] To be buried in chancel of parish church of Houghton Regis according to instructions. To sister Sarah Prosser Gibbs, wife of Thos. Gibbs, Old Brompton, Mddx., annuity of 200. Should she die in her husband's lifetime, then annuity to go to him. To Miss Emma Catherine Elliott, who has resided with late dear wife and with testator for many years, annuity 100, both annuities being charged on estates at Houghton Regis. His capital mansion caled Houghton House and all manors etc. in Beds., Devon, Cornwall, Middlesex, to use of nephew Humphrey Gibbs, eldest son of sister Sarah Prosser Gibbs, for life, then to heirs male, in default, or in case of forfeiture, to neph. Robert Gibbs, second son of Sarah and Thos., and then to great nephew MacLaughlin Robert Gibbs his eldest son and heirs male, in default heirs male of nephew Robert, in default to neph. Benj. Brandreth Gibbs, youngest son of Sarah and Thos. and heirs male, in default to use of heirs female of neph. Humphrey, in default heirs female great neph. Maclauchlin Robt. Gibbs, in default heirs female neph. Robt. Gibbs, in default heirs female neph. Benj. Brandreth Gibbs, in default to niece Rebecca wife of John Bergne and heirs male, in default heirs female, in default right heirs of testator. Power for tenant for life to lease property (except capital mansion at Houghton and outbuildings, gardens and pleasure grounds) for not more than 21 years. Power to sell estates in Devon, Cornwall and Mddx. and a cottage consisting of 5 tenements in the middle of Houghton and a cottage and garden st Thorn, in order to buy free-hold her ditaments at Houghton. Trustees to lay out money to be held with the said estate at Houghton on the same uses in the names of Humphrey Gibbs, Robt. Gibbs and Benj. Brandreth Gibbs. Limited power to cut timber. Tenant for life to take name Brandreth and Brandreth arms. Copyhold estate as freehold estate. China, furniture, plate, books, pictures, glass at mansion house at Houghton and house at Jermyn St., to be annexed to house at Houghton as heir looms. The person for the time being entited to mansion house at Houghton shall reside in and occupy the same for not less than 3 months in every year. To nephews Humphrey and Benj.
