First tour in Canada at time of Fenian Raids from United States 1866 Served in West Indies 1869 Served in Ireland, stationed at Curragh 1870 Joined in Ireland by 1st Bn. 1876 Tour of service in India 1899 Service in South African War until 1902 1903 Returned to England for 5 years then spent 2 years in Gibraltar, from there to Bermuda, then back to South Africa 1914 - 1918 Service in France 1919 Battalion reformed at Colchester, sailed for India, then to Iraq 1926 In France, evacuated from Dunkirk. Served in North African campaign & in Italy, Greece & Egypt 1948 Amalgamated with First Battalion N.B. FIRST WORLD WAR At Roberts Heights, Pretoria, South Africa on 4 Aug 1914; landed at Southampton 19 Sep 1914 and attached to 21st Brigade, 7th Division at Lyndhurst [Hampshire]; landed at Zeebrugge 7 Oct 1914; 21st Brigade transferred to 30th Division and the battalion to the 89th Brigade of that Division 19 Dec 1915; transferred to 90th Brigade, 30th Division 11 Feb 1918; absorbed 7th battalion and transferred to 54th Brigade, 18th Division 22 May 1918
