  • Title
"A Copy of A letter from the Revd.S.James to Mr.Roe, Vicar of Stotfold". "A Manuscript of yours falling into my hand entitled a Short Argument with Dissenters I Took the liberty of perusing it, but am sorry to say I found it filled more with bitter invective sharp severe censure and groundless uncharitable reflection [than] sound solid Argument." "...But you will not be offended Sir if I give you one piece of friendly advice...don't be so fond of displaying your learning..." NOTE: it is interesting that James, apparently a Baptist Minister, gives himself the title "Revd.", whereas the Vicar of Stotfold is addressed merely as "Mr"
