    Statutory Declaration by George Garside of Leighton Buzzard, merchant - Leighton Buzzard Land Company was formed 1880 to buy and sell buildings lots; - George Garside had been secretary since formation; - company never became incorporated but raised 150 in 1 shares to Thomas Handy Bishop; John Drage; George Garside (principal share owner); executors of F.Gotto; John Haskins; Samuel Hopkins; Henry Pettit; Henry Sell; W.Shepherd; executors of James Joseph Wood; Thomas Yirrell; - shareholders elected managing committee; - land was bought by company by conveyance to a member or members of committee; - Company bought 1a 0r 34p on 22 May 1883 in Woburn Road, Leighton Buzzard and conveyed to William Sharp Page and William Groom, then divided up and sold, some of it being sold to William Backhouse on 24 Sep 1898 being 634 square yards having a frontage to Woburn Road of 42ft; - on 7 Mar 1898 George Garside agreed to sell to William Backhouse a plot of building land of 371 square yards with a frontage to Woburn Road of 40ft 6in - committee approve of all decisions to buy and sell land; - Company's modus operandi well known in district and no complaint had ever been made; - witnessed by W.Gravely W.Willis, commissioner for oaths
