  • Title
Summary agreement: John Elger of Brighton esq. Hen. Leech, Thos. S. Trapp, Wm. Williams, esqs., Wm. Wells Kilpin, ironmonger, John Brasher, confectioner, all of Bedford. John Elger's land (shaded on plan), south of Midland Road, from Water-Street to Western Street, had been laid out in streets for building purposes, and he alleged that it was depreciated in value by reason of the Gasworks in Greyfriars' Walk, and the escape of refuse of the gas or ammoniacal liquor through the surface soil. The dispute was referred to arbitration, and a sum of money awarded in compensation, and provision made for preventing alleged damage.
