    Illustrated sale catalogue of Old Linslade Manor. - agents: Robinson & Hall of 118 Bromham Road, Bedford and Cole Flatt & Partners of 124 High Street, Berkhamsted [Hertfordshire]; - solicitors: J.Garrard & Allen of 4 High Street, Olney [Buckinghamshire]; - description: "When the Domesday Book was compiled, the Manor of Linslade was held by William de Beauchamp, and his family built the church in 1151. In 1251 Henry II granted Hugh de Beauchamp a charter for a weekly market, to be held at Linslade every Thursday, and for an annual eight-day Fair at the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. After a series of changes of ownership The Manor was conveyed by the Vaux family to the Corbets, and in 1513 Roger Corbet of Moreton Corbet, [Shropshire], died seised of the Manors of Linslade, Chelmscote and Southcote. it remained in the Corbet family until the reign of Charles II when in 1675, Sarah, Lady Corbet, widow of Sir Vincent Corbet, was made a peeress, with the title of Viscountess Linchlade. In 1826 the house was purchased from the Corbets by William Pulford, who apparently still owned it in 1860, although it was tenanted by Sir William Hayter. The crest of the Corbets appears as a bas-relief of a Raven on a stone let into the front wall of the Manor. On 20th February 1954 the House was scheduled by the Minister of Housing & Local Government as a building of special architectural or historic interest"; - Lot 1: Old Linslade Manor, Manor Croft and grounds: "This handsome house is approached by a winding drive off the unclassified road to Heath & Reach. In addition there is a stone string course and facings to the quoins. A central front door with pediment.
