- Scope and ContentLeft Croft in September 1914 when Kit [husband Christopher York Pease] joined we gave it up and stored our furniture. Since then the children have been at Arncliffe Hall most of the time and the writer lived with Kit when possible. When Kit went to France, writer went into a V.A.D. hospital. Now Phyllis [sister] is ill and away from home and writer is living at home indefinately - 'mother cannot be left alone and I am the only one available.' Kit was home on lease about a fortnight ago. Rachel will be six in December and Ingram four in February. Phyliss had a nervous breakdown and also fell and broke her arm very badly. She is in hospital in Newcastle. She is getting better, but is a long business. Mrs Kaye now has 5 daughters and one son. Writer and children have been in Skye for 6 weeks with sister in law - brother has a property there.
