  • Scope and Content
Delighted with Nanny's account of the thunderstorm. Fritz received her letter telling him of her meeting Mr. King. Hope she is convinced they [he and Grantham] are not so reclusive as some say they are. Russian Lady [Zenowieff], Grantham's first impressions. Dutch Minister also arrived. Russian Gentlemen not so ugly as Mr. Bastard but something like. Clermonts & L'elu leaving shortly, Grantham has given him six months for a copy of the Palace at Madrid and the Aranjuez views. Therese's account of their horses promises two or three Cups. Too hot for them to ride out [in Spain], environs not so burnt up as last year however. St. Ildefonso should be beautiful, tolerable accounts of their new house there. No great dinners this season even though eating room cool. Mr. De Mora, son of Fuentes, dined, the best Spaniard Grantham knows. Love to all at Stanmer.
