James Timmins Chance and Robert L Chance admitted tenants in 1842 to Calves Close (3 acres) land in 1858 to Great Pear, Pond Close (4 acres) in Heath and Reach. Under this is a stratum of silver vitreous sand from 45’ to 28’ deep. 20-30 feet from surface. No custom in the manor for tenants to dig for minerals. Defendants are taking c. 100 tons per week, which is used for glass manufacture
