    Biographical notes: Henry Christer Methley: Captain in the Coldstream Guards. He joined Luton Borough Police force in 1936, following service as a regular soldier in the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. He was a clerk in the CID department until December 1939 when he was recalled for War Service. He served as a Sergeant in the Coldstream Guards and later was commissioned in the Royal Pioneer Corps. He was demobilised with the rank of Captain having served some time in North Africa where he wrote letters to his daughter Janet who was born in 1938. She was just 17 months old when WWII began. He returned to CID in Luton 12 November 1945 and died in Oct – Dec Quarter of 1951 aged just 41. Janet A Methley: Janet was born 27 April 1938 in Luton. She attended schools in Luton before going to Retford College, Nottinghamshire in September 1956. There she specialised in geography and qualified as a teacher in July 1959. She taught in the UK until December 1961. in January 1962 she went to teach at the Bourne School in Kuala Lumpur, returning home in December 1964. Whilst at the Bourne School she was Assistant House Mistress at the girl’s boarding house (Arakan House) as wellas a fuill time teacher. When she returned to England she began teaching Special Needs at a school in Hitchin, Hertfordshire where she remained until her retirement in 1993. She died in August 1997.
