Removal Order, with order suspended as Thomas Pike unable to travel due to illness and infirmity, and bill for 19 shillings and sixpence for maintenance. Certificate of Chargeability - chargeable from 8th July 1843. Examination of Robert Wootton, Overseer of St Paul certifying above certificate. Examinations by Samuel Wing, Clerk to the Bedford Board of Guardians: Examination of Thomas Pike at present residing in the Workhouse of the Bedford Poor Law Union. Unable from illness to be brought up to the petty Sessions: I am about 46 years of age. On 28th June 1817 I was bound apprentice by Indenture of that date (duly stamped) which I now produce to John Salliss of the parish of Preshute in the County of Wiltshire, Millwright. to serve from 29th September 1813 for the term of seven years. I served my Master for the said term and resided and inghabited with him in the said parish of Preshute forty days and upwards (from 29th September 1813 for the full term of seven years). Mr John Woodman, and Attorney at Law then residing in the town of Marlborough was the only attesting witness to the Indenture. His signature which was formerly detached to the said deed is now obliterated. Mr Woodman has left Marlborough five or six years. He went abroad beyone the seas and to the best of my knowledge has never returned to England and I have heard and believe that he is dead. I saw him write his name as a Witness to the said Indenture. The Indenture was signed and sealed by my said Master and myself as our several acts and deeds and the names 'Thomas Pike' thereto set and subscribed are of my own handwriting and the names 'John Salliss' also set and subscribed are of the handwriting of my said Master. I am now avtually chargeable to the Borough of Bedford and am the person mentioned in the certificate of chargeability.
