Examination of William Chapman, Master of the Workhouse of the Bedford Union: The paupers Thomas Byway and Ann Byway are poor persons maintained in the said workhouse at the charge of the parish of St Mary. They were admitted on the 14th February last. Examination of Samuel Wing, Clerk to the Guardians of the Bedford Union: I produce an extract from the register of marriages of the parish of Newport Pagnell, Bucks which I examined with the original register and it is a true copy: it appears that WIlliam Byway and Ann Abbot were married at the parish church of Newport Pagnell in 22 June 1820. I also produce an extract from the register of baptisms of St paul, Bedford by which it appears that Thomas, the son of William & Ann Byway was baptised in that parish 25th December 183 [illegible]. I also produce a copy from the register of births in the district of Bedford and Cardington under the seal of the Superintendant Registrar by which it appears that Ann the daughter of WIlliam and Ann Byway was born on the 13th November 1837 in Priory Street, Bedford. Priory Street is in the parish of St Paul, Bedford. Examination of William Ashby of St Mary, Bedford: I knew William Byway and Ann Byway the father and mother of the paupers. They are both dead. William Byway was my wife's brother. The said WIlliam & Ann are the same persons as mentioned in the marriage extract from the marrisge register of Newport Pagnell. The pauper Thomas Byway is the same person as mentioned in the extract from the register of baptisms of St paul and Ann Byway is the person whose birth is mentioned in he extract from the register of births, I remember her birth. The pauper Thomas Byway was born in Ram Yard in the parish of St Paul.
