- Scope and ContentIn 1799 James Hine was a sergeant in the Regiment of Beds. Militia. At Michaelmas 1793 he let himself as a yearly servant to John Paine, Cardington, Bedford, farmer, for yearly wages of 6½ guineas. He served the whole year. On 11 January 1798, at St. Mary’s Church, he married Mary Ireland, and a boy Samuel was born about January 1799.
