Charles Tomson of Sundon, farmer - he was called about 3am that morning by his son. He saw a man standing a short distance from one of his barn doors. He dressed and went with his son to the bottom of the farm yard. They met two men coming out of the yard with 2 sacks. When the men saw them they threw down the sacks and ran away. They followed and captured William Showler, but the other man got away. The sacks contained a quantity of wheat. Frederick Tomson of Sundon, son of Charles Tomson - about 3am he saw a man walking up and down in front of one of his father's barn doors apparently watching. He called his father. [Rest as above] William Showler - that morning about 2am he left his house to go out on his duty as game keeper. Coming out of the field leading to his house into the road he saw 2 men pass towards Mr Tomson's barn. He saw them trying Mr Tomson's barley barn door. They left that and went to the wheat barn. One of them went in. They were in the barn at least half an hour. He concealed himself. He thought he heard somebody behind him. He looked over the pales and saw someone in black in the rick yard. He then saw two men come away from the barn door loaded. When they got down to the gate where he was they threw down their loads and rushed by him as if pursued. He followed them. While doing so he hit his head against a rail in the fence and knocked himself backwards. When he recovered young Mr Tomson came up.
