- Scope and ContentHis father was John Day who died about a year ago. He was a private in the 7th Regiment of Dragoons. His father told him in his last illness that if anything happened to him he was to go to Bedford where he would be provided for as he belonged to that place. First recollection of any residence was in America where he was with his father’s regiment about eight years ago. The regiment remained in America about four or five years, it was stationed all the time in Quebec. After passage from America landed at Cork about 3 years ago. Regiment remained in Ireland until about a month ago when it was ordered for Halifax and then the men of the Company to which his father belonged subscribed to pay his expenses to England.
